Von einigen Alben wurden mehrere Versionen (Pressungen) veröffentlicht. Es gibt die erste Pressung, die für Sammler sehr wertvoll sein kann. Wenn diese ausverkauft ist, wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt, die Repress oder Neuauflage genannt wird. Diese können sich leicht unterscheiden, z. B. durch eine andere Hülle oder schwereres Vinyl.
Manchmal werden ältere Alben neu gemastert, um die Klangqualität zu verbessern. Auch dafür wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt. Unterschiede im Artwork oder kleine Produktionsfehler können eine bestimmte Version attraktiver machen.
Was macht den Preisunterschied aus?
Bei Platten, die nicht neu sind, wird der Marktwert durch Seltenheit und den Zustand sowohl der Platte als auch der Hülle bestimmt. Die Preisgestaltung basiert auf Angebot und Nachfrage und ob eine Version limitiert oder nummeriert ist.
Welche Variante soll ich wählen?
Wenn es hauptsächlich um die Musik geht, ist eine Repress eine gute Wahl. Eine Original- oder nummerierte Ausgabe hat eine andere Art von Anziehungskraft.

The Interdimensional Wrecked System (IWS)
Ms Pinky’s “Interdimensional Wrecked System” (IWS) is a set of software and vinyl products that work together to turn a standard DJ turntable into a powerful, accurate, and flexible control device for multimedia. The name may sound strange, but the idea behind it is simple: We want to use our standard DJ turntable as a generalized controller in the digital dimension. This way we maintain the hands-on physical contact and subtle gestural control we’re used to having when spinning records, yet we’re able to apply those gestures to whatever we want to inside the digital dimension. For example, imagine putting the needle down on a piece of vinyl and what starts to play is both video and audio. Or imagine “scratching” the cutoff frequency and Q of a filter while simultaneously scratching a sound sample played through that same filter. With the Interdimensional Wrecked System(IWS), the possibility exists to scratch just about anything. Ms Pinky’s IWS is the most open-ended and flexible digital vinyl controller product on the market, offering working solutions to users with widely varying needs and preferences. Those who wish to simply use our pre-built software have the option to do so. And users who wish to create their own customized systems also have the option of applying Ms Pinky’s vinyl controller technology using either the tools of Max/MSP, or Ms Pinky’s Software Developer’s Kit (SDK).
As opposed to other commercially available “timecode” vinyl systems, Ms Pinky’s vinyl can function as a generalized controller in the digital dimension. With Ms Pinky’s vinyl, users can cue up and scratch digital audio files as if they were tracks recorded on a vinyl record. And many more exciting possibilities exist thanks to the fact that all digital control data derived from Ms Pinky’s vinyl is available to other software clients to use in almost any way they wish. For example, you can use Ms Pinky inside the Max/MSP/Jitter graphical programming environment to scratch audio, video, and just about anything. C/C++ developers on Mac, PC, and Linux platforms also have access to all Ms Pinky control data through our SDK. Ms Pinky’s vinyl is currently available in solid black, solid pink, half-black/half-pink, and mind-bending “Splatter Matter”. Ms Pinky offers vinyl that is cut at both 33-1/3 RPM, and 45 RPM. Note: the 45 RPM vinyl is only available in solid black, very heavy duty.
