NM (Near Mint) – Einige Male abgespielt, keine Mängel; Hülle fast wie neu.

VG+ (Very Good Plus) – Leichte Gebrauchsspuren, spielt ausgezeichnet; minimale Hüllenabnutzung.

VG (Very Good) – Deutlich benutzt, hörbares Rauschen oder Knistern; Hülle mit Abnutzung.

G (Good) – Stark abgespielt, störendes Rauschen möglich; Hülle mit sichtbaren Schäden.

Generic – Originalhülle fehlt, die Platte kommt in einer generischen Hülle.

Was bestimmt den Preis?

Warum ist eine Platte günstiger als eine andere?

Von einigen Alben wurden mehrere Versionen (Pressungen) veröffentlicht. Es gibt die erste Pressung, die für Sammler sehr wertvoll sein kann. Wenn diese ausverkauft ist, wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt, die Repress oder Neuauflage genannt wird. Diese können sich leicht unterscheiden, z. B. durch eine andere Hülle oder schwereres Vinyl.

Manchmal werden ältere Alben neu gemastert, um die Klangqualität zu verbessern. Auch dafür wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt. Unterschiede im Artwork oder kleine Produktionsfehler können eine bestimmte Version attraktiver machen.

Was macht den Preisunterschied aus?

Bei Platten, die nicht neu sind, wird der Marktwert durch Seltenheit und den Zustand sowohl der Platte als auch der Hülle bestimmt. Die Preisgestaltung basiert auf Angebot und Nachfrage und ob eine Version limitiert oder nummeriert ist.

Welche Variante soll ich wählen?

Wenn es hauptsächlich um die Musik geht, ist eine Repress eine gute Wahl. Eine Original- oder nummerierte Ausgabe hat eine andere Art von Anziehungskraft.
