Von einigen Alben wurden mehrere Versionen (Pressungen) veröffentlicht. Es gibt die erste Pressung, die für Sammler sehr wertvoll sein kann. Wenn diese ausverkauft ist, wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt, die Repress oder Neuauflage genannt wird. Diese können sich leicht unterscheiden, z. B. durch eine andere Hülle oder schwereres Vinyl.
Manchmal werden ältere Alben neu gemastert, um die Klangqualität zu verbessern. Auch dafür wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt. Unterschiede im Artwork oder kleine Produktionsfehler können eine bestimmte Version attraktiver machen.
Was macht den Preisunterschied aus?
Bei Platten, die nicht neu sind, wird der Marktwert durch Seltenheit und den Zustand sowohl der Platte als auch der Hülle bestimmt. Die Preisgestaltung basiert auf Angebot und Nachfrage und ob eine Version limitiert oder nummeriert ist.
Welche Variante soll ich wählen?
Wenn es hauptsächlich um die Musik geht, ist eine Repress eine gute Wahl. Eine Original- oder nummerierte Ausgabe hat eine andere Art von Anziehungskraft.

'Living In The Shadows' is a collection of Bert's 90's records (The Ornament Tree, When The Circus Comes To Town, and Toy Balloon), the set includes a 4th disc of exclusive unheard and unreleased material.
As a the definitive collection of Jansch’s 90s material, ‘Living In The Shadows’ comprises the three studio albums from this decade (‘The Ornament Tree’, ‘When The Circus Comes To Town’ and ‘Toy Balloon’ respectively), alongside a 4th disc of unheard and unreleased material. These tracks - transferred from Bert’s own collection of tapes - were the subject of meticulous cataloging earlier this year, the resulting selection bringing demos, versions and some very special - completely new - tracks to the fore. Keep your ear to the ground for further details and news of a cameo by a very distinguished guest… all of this, PLUS sleeve-notes by Bert’s biographer and undisputed doyen, Colin Harper.
